Ana Mª Gutiérrez was born in Elche, Spain. She obtained her degree in Chemistry in 1995 at the Universidad de Alicante. She obtained her Ph.D. in 1999 from the same University under the supervision of Profs. Miguel Yus and Francisco Foubelo, working on the synthesis of organolithium compounds.
In 2001 she joined the research group of Profs. Fernando Fernández and Angela Sastre at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche.
Since 2008 she holds an assistant professor position at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche. Her current research focuses on the chemistry and properties of perylenes.
